A Milestone Rooted in Purpose: Bunker One Brazil’s Journey to the Bronze Recognition

When Bunker One Brazil began planning its 2025 ESG actions, the team didn’t set out to win an award, they set out to make meaningful progress. What followed was a year shaped by learning, collaboration, and a determination to turn ideas into measurable impact.
A Milestone Rooted in Purpose: Bunker One Brazil’s Journey to the Bronze Recognition

This dedication has now been recognized through the Bronze Category in Brazil’s Pact of Sustainability, an initiative by the Brazilian Ministry of Ports and Airports designed to acknowledge companies taking concrete steps across the Environmental, Social, and Governance pillars. The award was received by Mette Østerskov, Bunker Holding’s Group ESG-Q Director.

But behind this recognition lies a story of people, commitment, and local action. It began with a renewed focus on environmental awareness. In September, teams gathered for biodiversity training — a moment that sparked conversations about local ecosystems and the responsibility that comes with operating in such a diverse natural environment.

Soon after, the Upcycling Project reached an important production milestone. What once began as a creative initiative evolved into a proud showcase during Rio Ocean Week, symbolizing how small innovations can ripple outward into community awareness and environmental impact. Meanwhile, in the governance space, Bunker One Brazil completed a full review of its local ESG Policy. Guided by Bunker Holding Group’s latest ESG Progress Review, the team ensured that governance principles were not only compliant but truly aligned with the company’s evolving sustainability ambitions.

These efforts - different in nature yet united in purpose, came together to form Bunker One Brazil’s ESG action plan. And together, they led to the recognition now celebrated across the organization.

Mette Østerskov, Bunker Holding’s Group ESG-Q Director comments: “This recognition reflects the commitment of our colleagues in Brazil who turned sustainability from a strategy into everyday practice. It really shows what’s possible when we anchor ESG not only in policies but in people and local initiatives.”

Glória Sousa, ESG Project Lead adds: “This positive outcome is the direct result of our continuous efforts throughout 2025. From the workshop to the policy review, every initiative has contributed to strengthen our ESG framework in Brazil. The Sustainability Pact also has concrete implications to our operation, as awarded companies shall have their requests prioritized by the Ministry.

This sets a clear example of how ESG can be a powerful business differentiator – not only reputation-wise.”
